Pivot Demo at SMC - demo of the Mach 429

I rode the incredible Pivot Mach 429.

The only thing I don't like about the bike is the price. $7,100 bucks. Yikes! But the thing is an awesome machine.

A side note, was the new Crank Brothers Candy 3 pedals. Much improved over my old model. Positively going to look into upgrading.

If you missed the demo, don't dismay. They will be in McDowell mountain park this Saturday from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

red mountain revenge

The ride started out good. The sky was clear. The desert was green. The mood was calm.

As the desert sky was transitioning from pink to black,  storm clouds off the horizon seemed to foreshadow pending doom.

SNAP ---- . . . dang!

My chain broke, leaving me to a hike-a-bike back to my trusty old Ford truck.

With the wind blowing the storm clouds my direction, I took comfort in knowing that I had gotten out of much worse situations in the past.

Pushed on by the thought that my wife be a widow and my daughter fatherless. I conjured up the strength to push onward.

Well, it wasn't '127 hours' but i was still stranded in the desert with no transportation for an hour in a desert with water.

Come to think of it, I was carrying a chain tool too.

Pemberton trail in May

Got up early. Was still nice enough for a ride. would be hot today, but not early. Toughest part of Pemberton is the first part, so no problem.
I had always heard about a hugh weird looking rock that resembles a man's thing. Think I found it. There is a side trail that takes you right to it, but too hot too tired to make the extra effort.

What do you think? Zoom lens on the iPod got it close enough for me.

got a long video of the start of my ride.
